yeah i'm having a tough time this year, really not enought time to trap right.
i'm pulling off a farm today and resetting another down the road. the yotes only came through once in 2 weeks. but this other farm has gave me a few before.
i've got DV1 as a co-pilot today.

ran and pulled one farm today with DV1
one incidental, a knock down, a caged coon and no rats. we pulled the line.
jumped on another farm, set a few snares there, then a pond for rats.
CO stites saw us, pulled over and came to talk. we talked for about 45 minutes. then went on our way. great CO.
he never did ask to see my lic. or snaring cert., but we took the test together a while back.
DV1 got to see a little how trappers think. gang set a crossover, a pinch point, and a fenced down looging road. then bank dens for rats, and see the damage they can do to a place. i think he's got a good idea were to look for critters now.

hey DV1
first set. the crossover near the road. it hit the snare on the other side, not the truck side.

that loop was what? 5"- 5" high? hip caught. she made it through the loop. amazing animal.
also the cage was robbed of it's bait, could be mice, but the little marsh's were still there.
the blowdown set was pushed out of the way.
i went back and added a couple mink snares to that stream near the crossover. one was pulled down tight and the sapling was leaning over. maybe coon, may of been a mink that didn't set the lock.????????????????

not sure about sad.
that thing wanted a piece of me.
do your deer show feelings if you get to it before it expires?
are you the coon whisperer? or dr. doolittle?
it's hard for some people to see a animal in a trap or snare, i get that. not many people can dispatch at 3'. the same people can shoot 20 deer, they are 20 yards away.
for a deerslayer to say a furbearer looks sad, puzzles me.

Amen, Ub.
Hey thanks for letting me tag along and thanks for the education. It was pretty cool, and I do see why they say it's like Christmas every time you run the line.
Got some great elk hunting tips too. ;)

hey ub1234 that was not an attack just an opinion it does not make me feel bad nor do i when i see an animal in a trap i would love to get in to traping but would not know the first thing or who to ask or where to go to do it sorry for the confusion and yes ive track deer and found them still alive and had to shoot from 5 feet so i know how it feels and it doesnt really bother me that much maybe you could take me or teach me a bit about trapping one day sean

sorry if i took you wrong.
every once in a while i get bashed for posting catch pictures. this forum isn't too bad. last year on another forum the southern trappers were taking a beating, mostly from the northern guys.
next year i sould be running a larger line, this year i just don't have the time, or the number of sets to show people. i have to keep it to a 20 minute check.
lets talk about a ride a long next season.

The last day of doe in W5C in Pa I was lucky to see 4 nice deer walking thru the woods. When my heart sank seeing the first 3 deer were bucks. A 6 pointer spike and a Y fork with a missing left side. Fortunatly the 4th was a nice mature doe. when she walked my way the other 3 followed her. When she was in the open I let her have it 30 yards, down like a rock.
The six and the spike took off after 10 secounds. But the Y turned back to that doe and just stared at her for at least a minute. He looked down at her and it had the feel he was thinking. Why are you laying down all the while his tail was up and on gaurd. They nevere saw me but it left me with a sad feeling for that young buck. Now I have to make it a point to find him next season with the bow or his father the 6 that I hope will be an 8 or 10.
