I have a chance to buy a brand new, never opened, Ruger Red Label, O/U shotgun with gold duck inlays. The price is $1400 is it worth it?

Sounds a bit high to me. They are good, clean, rugged guns but they don't get the premium prices that other makers get. Check out some sites like auction arms and gunbroker. They usually have the highest prices. You see the same guns on there all the time because no one buys them for the prices people want to sell them for. The bargains are on there but they are scooped up pretty quick. The bluebook may be @1400.00. The trade in price is usually 70% of the blue book price. Just my two cents. I'd have to look at the gun myself to see what it really is.

I have one of these with Skeet/Skeet barrels. It's a bit on the heavy side, but for a target gun, that isn't a big deal. Mine is the plain version, in 12 gauge, with 28" barrels. I like the gun, and it's one that I can hit with too, but I just don't use it a whole lot. I think that $1400 is a bit overpriced, but maybe yours is a special edition with those gold inlays so who knows?

Gun Traders Guide shows the Red Label Special Edition - Wildlife Forever at $1804.00 NIB. It says it has mallard and pheasant inlays and that only 300 were produced in 1993. If the one you are looking at is this gun, it is a fair price.
