brown were $2.50 last year
you need to hide the blacks in with the browns. less money for blacks.
coon were $14 avg.
reds were $16 avg
greys were $28 avg
this is the prices i got last year.
makes you want to go out and burn gas driving to the trapline doesn't it?? :D
this year coon are maybe half that. at least right now.

isn't this a bit dishonest 'hiding' the blacks? i've been trapping since the early 80's when blacks were worth much more than the browns. i just got back into the game last year after a few years hiatus and i don't get out as much as i used to due to work, family obligations, etc, but i've always sold to the same buyer. these guys probably have seen hundreds of thousands of rats, if not millions over the years. i'm pretty sure they can tell blacks from browns

i wouldn't say dishonest, but, i just don't point it out. each pelt is handled. if they don't see it, thats on them.
why point out things that would get you less money?
i'm sure they can tell color also.

Yeah you won't get that past zander or any real buyer lol he will just grade it out. just like most of the fox in the southern part of the state cotton sides are a norm they look good but buyers can kill ya on price because it is not a grade. we want them to be but after seeing a NY red along side a south jersey red not doubts lol and your Salem reds rub out in early Jan from the pharg.
