I need to know if I could use a 20 ga. semi-automatic and some tips on the night hunting part of it , we have a electronic caller , red spotlights and rabbit lure . But the one thing I didn't understand was that you can only stand hunt ? what's that mean ?

Still hunting. Can't put on drives? I can only guess.
Call call and call some more. Then sit and wait for about 15-30 mins. Sit on the edge of a field line if your going to use the spot lights. Snow can really help a lot. It drives them hard to look for food. Not to mention if you go out at night it's easier to see with snow. I've had nights with a full moon and snow you don't even need a spot light.

Yes you can use a 20 gauge get them as close as possible. I am new to it myself. The stand hunting means no driving. I sit on the ground. I have had no luck yet, but I keep trying. Good luck

Oh it's hard calling them in. I know plently of people it took a couple years to actually call in their first coyote. If your going to use that 20g just make sure you get them in very close.
When you call make sure it's loud and really sounds like something dying. Try call sequences for about 2-6 mins long then sit still for about 10-15 mins and repeat. A lot of times you'll have a coyote coming in, but he'll stop and get hung up. They will also try in come in on your down wind side a lot too.

3" #4 shot during the day
3" T or BB at night for the big dogs.
they say stand hunting cause you can't use dogs and large shot at night for k9's, dogs are for daytime hunts on k9's. dogs look too much like coyotes at night. that cuts down on problems. but the coon guys are still out there, so know your target.

I took a closer look at the NJ game digest and it says you can only use 12 or 10 gauge so I guess you can't use a 20 ga. The last thing is about wearing the orange ? I'm not sure if you have to wear it on night hunts ? Full moon is almost here , and we've got snow for a change .It's bright out tonight . :D Thanks for all the great info fellas .
