Me. Mostly 3B but a few times in 5C each year. Evansburg.

I use a CVA inline 50 cal during the October doe season and a Hawken flintlock in the late season.

Just purchased an Omega last year for the early doe season. First day with it in the field, I tagged a 154lb doe in 3B . It will probably be my go to gun in the late season for 5c doe as well. Next purchase will be a flinter.

I only hunt the late flintlock season in Berks, 4C. I use a TC Firestorm but have not connected as yet. I hunt early archery, but love the flintlock for late season hunts. Come on cool weather!

ihunt49, have you had any problems getting a spark from your Firestorm? I have had more than a couple misfires in the field over the last couple of seasons, and it was not even damp out. Thanks.

I am using a Remington Genesis in-line for the early season and in the 5C area in Evansburg. I also have a Lyman Deer Stalker for the late season. I do not even know if I will take the shotgun to Evansburg this year for deer. Especially since I have a scope for the Genesis. No scope for the Shotgun. The challenge is what I am after, it makes it much more exciting. The odds favor the deer a bit more as well.

Haven't had a problem with it at all. I shoot either Pyrodex pellets or loose Pyrodex and prime the pan with 4F. When I prime it, I tap it a few times to make sure the powder gets it the flash hole and when I get ready to shoot, I look at the pan to make sure the powder is laying flat, not all bunched up at the hole.

Now I want to go shoot!:D

I hunt mostly 5C now and use the inline almost exclusively unless it gets late season and I have not filled the buck tag - then I will either have the bow or flintlock depending on mood and location.

T/C Encore
T/C Omega
Lyman Trade Rifle (flint)

I like, enjoy, and use a .50 Lancaster style rifle made in W.Va. with and L&R lock. Never had a problem with ignition as long as I maintained the piece properly.

Years ago there was a gun club in Avondale Pa called avon lake They had black powder shoots. When you said about the powder being in the flash hole it reminded me of how the men that won most of the time told me how to do it. They put the powder all the way to the other side on the pan. Not next to the flash hole. If the powder is away from the hole it sparks into the hole , but if it is next to the hole it has to burn in .I tried it and my flint goes off like an inline.Just something I thought might help

I don't shoot a flintlock, but I do shoot an inline. I LOVE it!!!! Ever since I've gotten my in-line I've yet to hunt in Bucks Co. with my shotgun. I shoot a CVA Optima Pro. It's in 45 cal. I tell ya I think they are trying to illiminate the 45 cal in line. It's getting harder and harder to find 45 cal powder pellets. Cabelas stopped selling them over the counter. You must mail order them through Cabelas. Otherwise only a few mom and pops shops carry them.

I have two boxes of the 45 cal pellets still sealed.I bought them for $14.00 each. If you are in lower Chester County call me at 610-869-8322 .I do not have any use for them .I can not ship them to you because of haz-mat laws.
