I broke down and bought one. I've dealt with the bugs in years past, even after reading how good these things work. However, the other night while scouting I decided I had to give it a try, the mosquitos were out of hand and one of two things were going to happen, I wasn't going to stay still or I wasn't going to have fun. They say they are odorless and I've read nothing but good things about them from hunters.

Anyone have it? What are you thoughts?

I have not used it while hunting yet ,but it worked great this spring in Maine in fishing camp.

Ok. I tested it tonight. It worked. I had only one mosquito tough enough to make it through the cloud. He only stayed around for a second.

Now I did get busted by 3 deer, so that is a bit troubling because I thought the wind was pretty good. I was sweating like a nut too though.

I've used mine several times for turkey this past May, but this will be the first deer season I'm going to try it. I've had a couple of times either the sketers or the black flies where just horrible. They can surely dampin a hunting trip. They say it is oderless, but you can smell it if you put your nose right up to it. I shot an archery tourny in Georgia 2 years ago and I asked a couple of the guys that lived their how they hunt considering the pests. All of them said early in the archery season they all have thermacells and never hunt without them. They'll get eaten alive without them. They all also said they never had any deer spooke, but this is what they say so I'll be using mine soon for here in SE PA soon. I hope it works as good as it did in turkey, but not spoke deer.

Yeah ... you can def smell it as you say. Not sure what to do with it now. It works in keeping the bugs away though.

Well I wear differnt hunting clothes from early archery to late archery so I'll probably end up not using it for most of the end of archery (hopefully, please god). I usually see all of my monster buck more towards the end of archery when it is a lot cooler out and no bugs. I guess if I'm gonna be using the thermacell I might want to go a lil higher up in the tree than I usually go to keep the smell above their heads. It's an idea.

I first learned of Thermacell in Canada while bear hunting. I can assure you that the thermacell is the best I have ever used. I shot 2 bear that both were within 15 yards of me and the wind was going towards them. Before utilizing Thermacell I would have been in a bug net and my sleeves and cuffs would have to be taped. With the Thermacell I was able to have no headnet and had no bites. I have used this during deer archery and turkey seasons and have had no issues with the deer winding the Thermacell. If you don't have one you are missing out.

I broke down and got one to use in Maine for bear season. Plenty of bear came in downwind. They work great. No bugs at all. Now I have four of them with boat loads of refills.

My buddy left the lights on and the screen door open on our Maine cabin. We came home and there were thousands of mosquitos in there. We lit the thermacell and within a few minutes it was raining dead mosquitos all over the cabin. It was pretty wild.

+1 on the thermacell except the hissing noise is a little bit annoying.

I don't go in the woods without 1 in early season. It does have a little odor but i'll take my chances playing the wind , there's nothing worse than 100 mosquitos laying in your ears all night.

Greatest invention ever. Used it in Kansas, Idaho, New Jersey, Maine and Canada. Never had a problem. AWSOME.
