Some people don't but I do! NIX is the stuff to relieve the itching. It's for lice or something.

I have had my share of chiggers, especially when scouting prior to bow season in southern NJ. Since I started spraying my boots and clothes with Coulston's Duranon Tick repellent I have eliminated the problem. One application to your clothes lasts about 2 weeks. Available at most hunting/archery shops. It comes in a spray can with a yellow label and a green cap.
If you are unlucky to get chiggers, the best and quickest relief is to visit your doctor to get a prescription that will solve your problem in 2 to 3 days. Try someone's home remedy and you will suffer for 2 to 3 weeks.

after reading this post i googeled "chiggers" and found out some pretty neat stuff like they dont boro into your skin they attach to you and like spiders inject saliva into you that dissolves your tissue (hence the itch) then they drink it and that with most humans the chigger gets scratched off with in hours its the saliva that reamains that causes the itch. also chiggers go completely dormant when the ambiant temp goes below 60 degrees and die below 40 (no more waiting for the first frost) :D
now remember this info is off the net so who knows how tru it is but its the best thing ive heard about em yet

I got them before and never again they are mean little suckers. i went as far as rubbing down with gasoline last time and i know it sounds crazy but i didnt get a single chigger, i had soo many on my legs when i went for a stroll on my trail to an old stand, it looked like my skin was moving. soo i picked as many off i could and wipped down my wholl lower half with gas and didnt get one...
the truth of the matter is. i didnt get chiggers but it still burned a little on the old undercarige if ya know what i mean

They find me like a magnet. Ticks also if I go into the woods before the first good frost I am covered every year same thing.

:shoot:Now I don't want you guys to laugh but I use Pepto-Bismol the pink liquid on the chigger bites and it works. It kills what ever chiggers are on your skin because of the bismuth in the solution. A doctor told me this when I had a bad case on my ankles. I use a cotton ball and just spread it over the bites. It also relieves the itch too. Give it a try next time and you'll see.

guys do yourselves a favor and buy the spray as already mentioned i think i use permadone last about 2 weeks maybe a little longer,if you are going into diff. area every time you hunt you will get more chiggers if you use the same trail to bait your seat you will not get as many, if your not sure get in the shower the colder the better if your really nervous or have alot on your body rub yourself down with rubbing alcohol. i was in warren grove a couple years back and had thousands of them everywhere on my body and i was suppose to head offshore tuna fishing for 4 days, i stripped down naked and jump into a COLD cedar creek nearby and did not get one chigger bite, i rode home in my buddys truck naked LOL but it beat getting thousnads of chigger bites:)

a land surveyor that I know who spends most of everyday in fields and woods told me this. After a day in an area that he knows is chigger infested he goes home and runs his feet under hot water in the tub. This does the trick. Even if you wait to long and the itch has set in, you can still use this trick. Just run your feet, or infected area, under hot water (as hot as you can stand) and it works. It also kills the itch for a few hrs. Sometimes it takes a few times to work but its free and you dont have to smell like gas or have pepto feet or smell like icy hot.lol. I use this and it works!

If you get chiggers you can use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and it will kill them quickly, where I hunt I get them all the time and this works well
