IMR is putting out a new pellet called white hots. They are claiming to break 2200fps in a 50 cal with a 250 grain bullet. They are sending me some to try.I'll let you know how they shoot as soon as I get them.

Yeah, but will the chamber pressures still be within the safe limits of the mfg's recomendations???

The flyer I picked up from IMR said to use two pellets unless your gun specifed that it will handle 150 grains.I can not see them putting powder out that that is going to be unsafe if used correctly.

I can... Just because a company says it is so dosent mean you have to be so gullable to believe them. Remember, volume is volume you can't change that so the only way to get more velocity is to burn hotter which in turn will raise the chamber pressure. Don't need to be the head cashier at the Wal-Mart to figure that out...

I might not be as smart as a head cashier at Wal-mart,but I have been dealing with these companies for twenty years. You might not know it or not , but IMR is now owned by the people that make the triple seven pellets. They have sent me samples of their products since they started making their first ones.I agree that the pressure will change,Shoot two pellets then shoot three. There is a differance, but for guns built for the three I believe will handle the new ones.I am so sure that as soon as I get the new ones I'm shooting them out of four differant guns. If you are afraid to thats up to you .I will report on them if I still can.

Certain powders can acheive better velocities and still stay within safe pressures. This is how Federal loads Hi-Energy and Hornady loads Light and Heavy Magnum rounds. IMR is not risking a law suit to win the advertising war with their competitors.

Although my ML shoots more accurately with 2 pellets than 3 so I probably won't go all out for doe hunting in PA. If I were hunting bear or out west, different story.
