I know Im probably the last one that still uses my fingers. I just never felt comfortable with the two relases I tried and under 25 yards Im dead on with my fingers. Anybody else still use their fingers and what is considered the best release nowadays?

Got away from using my fingers about 8 years ago, my groups are much more consistent with the release. I used to use the release directly on the string, now i use a D-loop..which may be a little more accurate, but it was easier to find the string than the loop when u need to do it quick. I think Scott makes the best releases, 2nd choice would be truefire.

I use a Cascade thumb release, I would rather shoot with fingers myself but its pretty hard to find a good 40" bow on the market these days. After this season I'm going to look for a used Hoyt Aspen or something like that and go back to fingers.
It just feels like you are really shooting the bow when you use fingers.

I also shoot a release. True-fire.. I was resistant till i started shooting in a league. Finger shooters are not even competitive in the league. Hunting at 20 yds is differant but once I got used to the release I cant go back now. As someone here said if I forgot my release I would not even hunt that day.

Still use the fingers. Tried a release about 15 years ago and didn't like the feel. Plus I still like to shoot my recurve so it will make going back and forth to the compound easier. I'm good to 50 with my bow. Never took a shot at a deer past 22 though.

A cobra. I have several I carry with me in my truck and pack. Cheap and simple. Plus the only brand I could find with a buckle instead of velcro. I hate velcro:mad:. Any hunting manufacturer thats uses velcro should die a thousand deaths. Did I mention I don't like velcro.

My Cobra is velcro. No problem. I put it on and don't take it off until I'm done hunting.
I tried to pull my 72lb Mathews back with my fingers and it hurt like hell :D. I think I'm going to have to stick with the release.:D

I have a 99 model Hoyt Aspen-Redline Cam 40" axle to axle 8 & 1/4" brace height. Bow still shots as well as it did brand new... on 2nd string now ofcourse. This is probably the finest bow I've ever had, amazingly forgiving, quiet & dead on accurate. I did shoot it fingers the 1st year i had it before going to a release. Even at 40" & 8 & 1/4 at 70 lbs. it's launching 420 gr arrows at 260, not too shaby. It is now my backup bow as I Just bought a bowtech this spring - which blew up on me btw after only about 200 shots out if it (should have bought another HOYT!!!) Should get the bowtech back this week and will likely keep that as my backup and buy a new Hoyt for my primary bow. I wasn't planning on ever parting with my Aspen, I love it and killed my biggest bow buck with it, but if you really want it, make me a generous enough offer and i'd be willing to part with it.

I shoot with a finger.I shoot with my little finger and pull back 70lbs.I can not find a release I can use .Most you need at least three fingers. I'm good to 30 yards.

BarnsX, the only reason I don't like the velcro is because one particular morning bowhunt. It was cold and dead still and I guess the wrist strap slipped or I didn't fold it right or whatever but, I draw and the strap makes that slight "velcro sound" and i was busted. Only a doe but it could have been worse. That release is probably still laying within heaving distance from that tree:razz:
