Todays red fox!

I caught this nice little male on my snare line today! He might have been in the snare for possibly 20 minutes no longer before I got their. The ground was not torn up at all, and the set was not disturbed one bit. I had a good morning!

This is one of my prime locations that is full of reds. There are a lot of yotes in the area also, but they tend not to hunt these meadows. So the population of reds are still pretty good.

Nice job big ole. Your kicking some ass with those traps:thup: Always wanted to give it a go but just can't afford another hobby,or the time. Between waterfowl,deer , offshore fishing, trips outa state I'm flat busted for time and money....

But I love trapping as much as bow hunting! It's my second nature and it is also very rewarding when you come across one of these little critters alive in your trap! It really doesn't cost that much money to trap when you make all the traps yourself, it just costs a lot of time setting up a line, and tending the traps!

Nice dude! Found some BIG yote track up in NE Pa. Hopefully soon I'll get some traps out there soon. Also found a fox den!!!!! I gotta post some pics for you all. Hopefully I get a trap 5' from it soon. It'd be nice if it was a gray den.

i just put out 8 snares for fox. hopefully i see one soon.
been doing somer afternoon calling, not one k9 in the last week. i'd be doing good if it was owl and hawk season.:D

canine not going too well yet?? I may get out calling by Monday. Do you guys have the snow-Ice?? We've had a couple inches of the hard stuff the last week or two. It's pretty hard, but you can make out the fox tracks still.

no snow here.
i called last night behind my house in my swamp. nothing. i used to catch a few greys and always reds in the yard, haven't seen a fox this year, out back.
two years ago we got hit with mange bad around me, 5 miles away-no mange.
then last year distemper hit early december. i caught reds thanksgiving week, then after buck week they were gone.
i'm not alone on this. there are a couple other good trappers in the area that saw the same thing i did.
this year i saw a few deer hunting, then, early december they were gone again.
our coyotes are coming on strong here. they aren't helping the rebuilding population. the greys are still here, just not in big numbers.
