I personally dont wear anything in my ears hunting. I want to be able to hear what is going on around me. Plus with the bllod pumping full of excitement you tend to phaze it out and it doesent really bother me at all. If a gun bothers your ears when your shootin i would suggest some cotton or some of those cheap foam ear plugs. What ever you do dont be wearing a pair of muffs out in the feild:nuts:. Dont get me wrong i wear muffs, but only at the range. Just my two cent on it.

I agree with Chum. It's hard to hunt without 100% hearing.
I always wear muffs on the range.

If you don't do something to protect it, you don't need to worry about 100% of your hearing - tenitus will reduce it during every unprotected shooting session.
When I had a hearing test two years ago, the technician kept asking 'can't you hear that?' Nope.
I've actually had a guy tell me that I was a wimp for wearing plugs and/or amplified muffs when hunting. 'Blast is like recoil, when you're hunting you never notice it.' Wrong.
Though I will admit, my ears have been 'ringing' so long that I'de think something was wrong if it waren't there.

eyes and ears are a must not so much for deer hunting because you might get one or 2 shots off in a day. Bird hunting were you can shoot a couple hundred times will definatly effect your hearing:naughty: even though you might not notice a difference its happening. i highly reccomend the foam ear plugs even though they dampen the gun blast you can still hear direction or alerts from you co hunters hunt safe hunt smart
