hung three snares last minute yesterday.
one cross over and two bottle necks. had two coon waiting for me today. both alive and upset. one neck caught one hip snared, but you can see the size difference. both males. feeding along a lake shore, that has a low water level. tons of food for the night crew.

now they are skinned and washed. when they dry they need fleshing and boarding.

we got a few more snares out today and hope to score. We are new trappers this year, and got our fist coon snared late week. Now we are hoping for a fox in one today's sets. Boy, we have a lot to learn. We been doing good on coon in box traps, but snaring is more rewarding because it shows that you are starting to "read" the woods.

i'm still learning location. it's very hard when a animal can go anywere in the woods. and your trying to get it to put it's head in a little loop.
coon are not that hard on location, but neck snaring every time is hard.
i love the k9's. reds aren't that hard, if you have them. but coyotes take time, and greys don't run the same trails every day.
my buddy is a good mink snareman. i can't catch one to save my life. and he does it with my snares.

are you putting up your fur or selling round?
