I just got a new Fred bear bow and put in my own peep sight. Ět is one of those low light sights, it is a diamond shape with a small hole and it is hard to look through sometimes, is this normal or should put in bigger peep sight.

Glen, If you are uncomfortable with it then swap it out. I have the largest peep I could get and I'm happy with it.

I agree! Get a peep sight with the largest hole you can find...you'll be glad you did. The larger peep DOES NOT reduce your accuracy and it SURE DOES improve your chances in the field when trying to find and set up the deer in the sight!

Simple fix there Gen. Drill the hole out, for hunting you want atleast 3/16th though 5/16th or 1/4" holes are better. I like 1/4" for best sight picture, especially in low light. The compromise in going with a larger peep is most sight housings are too small to fill the peep hole so you have to be sure you center the sight housing in the peep/sight picture for consistent accuracy. That compromise is worth the better low light sight for hunting, and it can be corrected by finding a matching diameter sight to that of the diameter of the view thru your peep. For a 1/4" peep, you'd need atleast a 2" diameter sight housing at most draw lengths.

Just get a 1/4 or 5/16 peep. If you do drill it, make sure you remove it from the string first. The bit will cut through the edges and into the string. Been there. Done that.

Done that.Yup, many moons ago I did exactly that...what a DUMMY!!! They make them big enough now that there's no need to be drillin.

Yeah, be careful. To drill thru your string would be....well dumb to be honest. :D

I did away with the peep all together. I bought the setup from Tom Miranda called the Hindsight. I love it & my grouping improved dramatically!

Archer101, I am looking into replacing my peep. I saw the link for the hind sight. I like the idea but, the rear sight mount looks a little flimsy, how long have you had it & how durable is it.

It's very durable! I've had it on for 2 years now & no problem at all.

Remember to line up the inner circumference of the peep with the ring guard on the sight when sighting it in. You do that and it is an automatic line up of the sighting system no matter what angle you shoot from.

Thanks guy's, I think I'm gonna try it after winter bow is over. Seems like all my best chances come when I can't see throught the peep.

I fabricated this rear sight using a piece of angle aluminum and a open sight that I removed from my muzzleloader. I never did trust the surgical tubing that is used to line up the peep sight.
