I am looking at the thompson omega which i think everyone would agree is a hell of a blackpowder gun. I am trying to compare this to the CVA Accura. I have an older omega that i love but cant bring myself to paying a bundle for the new one when i hear the accura is about the same as the omega but cheaper.

Does anyone have any pros or cons about the CVA Accura that would keep me from buying?

I have shot just about all the major brands and have found out that they all shoot pretty good.Between the two you have been looking at I think it comes down personal taste because the shop I go to has both of them and they are only $5.00 differance The omega is a gray laminated thumb hole stock with a fluted barrel for $450.00 and the CVA has a fluted barrel for $445.00.I 'm sure they are not much differance in price near you so I would go after what you really want.

The camo ss thumbhole in the omega was 659.99 and in black/bb it was 369.99. I think i remeber the accura being camo with ss barrell being459.99.

What about the savage?

TC Omega is as good as it gets. I've owned two of them; the Hardwoods camo/SS and Thumbhole camo models. With my own standard pet load and decent scope I'm shooting 1 1/2" groups @ 100 yds.. Ealier in the year I tried a Nikon BDC scope with a magnum load on the thumbhole model (for a future Western hunting trip) and was shooting 2.5" groups at 200 yds.. Not too shabby for a "primitive" weapon. Good luck with whatever brand you choose. These days these muzzys are so well made that you can't go wrong buying from a reputable manufacturer.

I shoot a T/C Omega Laminate thumbhole with the stainless fluted barrel and it is handsdown THE best gun I have ever shot. I can't imagine anything feeling better to hold or shoot.

Years ago I bought a T/C Black Diamond in SS with a laminate stock. Been a great gun even with the open bolt. Shoots consistent groups and VERY reliable A couple years ago recieved a CVA Kodiak Magnum as a gift, all in camo. Nice looking gun, but haven't been that impressed. I'd stick with a T/C. Good luck.

All of the brands do shoot well but I just can't help remembering the TC warrenty of a life time guarantee. I've seen them first hand replace a barrel with a brand new one for a gun over 10 years old that had been shot so many times the crown was worn out. They didn't even blink, heres your new barrel, thanks TC. If I'm buying new, you can bet it's going to be a TC.

I am a big fan of the T/C and highly recommend the Omega. I started my inlines with the Encore which is a great rifle also but just had to havee the Omega when I saw the laminated thumbhole, fluted barrel which I just loved the look of. It shoots as good as it looks, never an issue. I think you need to look at another dealer as it seems your price on the Omega is very high. As was mentioned you should be able to buy an Omega for under $500 just about anywhere.
