You may shoot slugs out of a modified choke. Results may be OK. Just have to try them out on the range. If you're serious about shooting slugs though, you are better off to get a rifled barrel/scope combination. Also, I believe there is a law in NJ that, if you are shooting slugs, you must have either a scope or iron sights.

Makoman is right if you are going to shoot slugs you must have either a scope or some kind of iron sights on your shotgun. You can buy sights that attach to the rib of your gun to make it legal. As for shooting a slug through a modified choke I would have to say be careful because the restriction in the choke may cause too much pressure in the barrel. This could result in a ruptured barrel and possible harm to the shooter. Not that it can't be done but why take the chance of ruining your gun or hurting yourself.

You can do it. I wouldn't reccomend it. It won't do well for accuracy at longer ranges. I'd just go out and get another barrel for slugs.

Yes, it is fine. Just wont get the same trajectory as if you were using a rifled barrel. Also, if you will be shooting different types of slugs, be sure they will be ok in YOUR barrel, or else you could have slugs lodge in your barrel and blow up, seen it happen once!

yes you can and i did for about 3 years out of my 12ga remington 11-87 and i was shooting 2"-3" groups out to 100yds :thup:and then i went out and bought a rifle barrel and my nephew still does shoot with a mod choke out of his 12ga 11-87 out to 100yds but we both found out that 3" remington slugers shot the best out of both our 11-87. you have to have adjustable sight or a scope on the gun to use them in NJ. When we tryed the imp choke we didn't get any good groups pass 50yds at all.
