i got out of bed at 4 oclock monday morning. get a shower and got dressed and headed out. when i walked out the front door i was greeted by 10 degrees and 30mph wind. i said to myself if it was a good idea to go out in such strong winds. needless to say that it was either hunting or shopping so i chose hunting. sat from 6 til 10 didnt see anything. headed out to the truck to get warm and a nap.when i headed back out i really didnt expect to see anything because of the 30 to 50mph wind gust but about an hour later i heard something comng thru the brush.all of a sudden there was a deer on the bait pile.i grabbed my gun and let him have it.after i pulled the trigger and he took off i actually had buck fever. i could feel my heart pounding,i was short of breath and had the shakes.i always said that it wouldnt happen to me but it did. i can honestly say that he miht not have been the biggestdeer in the world, but it will be something i will never forget.it jus sucks that im out of vacation/sick days.just makes me want next year to come!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Bill, You never forget your first buck, or any other for that matter. My first was a small six with the slug gun. I still proudly hang it on my wall. I wish you many more to come.

This thread made me go look for my first buck rack. I pulled it out, along with #2, from my "box of small antlers". I was a happy camper when I got that little buck and then scored the next year too. I had put both of those little racks on plaques and I put them back up on the wall this weekend. Just a very small 3pt and a long tine spike...but they brought back some neat memories...
