well i was supposed to take dillion out but at noon yesterday my dad calls me and i had to work this am. i canceled on dillion and told him we will make it up during this break. So im mad that i cant hunt this morning when he calls me at 8pm to tell me that we aren't working. so my grandfather calls me to take my cousin out and his friend so i do. we head to prime hook and get picked 4th outta 10 groups. we tried to get to 32 but coulnt get there due to the ice being too thick. I am now thinking i have two fourteen year olds what now? Sea duck hunting!!!!! I head out to a friends blind out on the bay near the power plant he said i could use and set up. i used 6 black 6 mallards 5 buffles and 3 geese decoys. First thing in the morning we have mallards fly over the blind and the boys didnt see them. i was chasing dekes the tide was coming in. so i get back and a drake gadwall passes right in front and through the spread with out getting shot at. our first kill was a drake bufflehead. we then had a dozen big ducks flying straight at us so i tell the boys dont move dont move. thet fly over and we rained the ducks. we dropped 4 drake and 1 hen red breasted mergansers. one of the kids it was his first duck. it was my first merganser. as we picked them up we had a drake buffle land in the dekes and i told jordan to goo get him. he sneaks up to get his gun and bam kills his first buffle. from there we had more buffles and ruddies come in. so we ended up with 12 ducks 4 red breasted mergs, 6 buffleheads and 2 ruddy ducks.
first picture is in the blind
second is the happy boys. jordan on the left and my cousin will on the right
third picture is the boat.

I was also out on the bayfront. We managed 3 broadbills and 2 teal. Lost 2 broadies. Both of them dove before we could retrieve them. I just they locked on to the bottom because we never seen them surface again. Great morning hunting watching broadbills stool into the decoys. Weather was perfect out there today.

Nice shooting!! Those buffs aren't easy unless they are decoying perfectly!
