so every body now has cameras in the woods. i just wanted a trail timer to let me know which run is active at which time. i just wanted to know when the deer (all) deer were going by my run. didnt care what it was figured after i got a time they came by i would hunt the run.BUT THE CAMERA HAS RUINED SPOTS . SEE IF YOU AGREE.... OK YOU SCOUT AN AREA AS WAS DONE FOR CENTURYS YOU PICK A SPOT , YOUR EXCITED TO SAY THE LEAST ,AND YOUR HAPPY.NOW YOU HAVE A CAMERA YOU CHECK IT A WEEK BEFORE SEASON ,YOU ONLY SEE SMALL DEER WHATTA YA DO???? YOU DONT HUNT IT . WTF. THOSE CAMERAS TAKE THE EXCITEMENT OUT OF A SPOT ...; SO NOW YOU WONT HUNT IT BECAUSE YOU THINK ITS NOT GOOD ... WHAT HAPPENED TO HUNTING THE SPOT SEEING DEER GETTING YOUR HEART RATE UP THEN DECIDING AH MAYBE ILL STICK IT OUT A COUPLE DAYS.. WHATS YOUR THOUGHT???? DOES IT RUIN THE FUN OF THE UNEXPECTED ????? TRUTHFULLY

With a camera your heart rate starts when you are scrolling through your new pics and get to a pic of a monster. Even if I dont get a chance to get into a spot I love to see whats happening there. Plus you get to see some pretty cool things you would have otherwise never seen. I love em...

Is the glas half full or empty. Every time you check the pics it is like christmas i cant wait to see what is coming in . But it allows you to know if a pot is a meat hunt or a buck spot ,you can concentrate on which is in need a empty spot in the freezer or an empty spot on the wall. The hunt is still the hunt , if you cant get excited because a picture doesnt say it is a monster buck spot then you are hunting for the wrong reasons

i think they are great but i only leave mine out for a day or 2 because of the batteries i dont think deer are as "pattern oriented" as many people think. the reason i have mine out there is to see activity only i dont think id bet on seeing the same deer during the season

One thing the cameras taught me this year,at least on my property, is the monsters dont come onto bait piles.....even at night....I put a camera on a bait pile because I figured i'd get alot of action...I got action and ok, decent shooter bucks eating on the piles but not the big ones I see in the fields.....So this is changing the way i'm gonna hunt this year....Until I see something change on the bait pile I will stay away from it and hunt the downwind side during the rut, catching that big boy cruising on by checking it out for that hot doe......

I have sat on trails with cameras and watched deer walk right by it and it didnt take a pic ,Knowing this and that not all bucks come to the bait i still would hunt as you never know what deer is out cruising around that was pushed out from a neighboring peice or is out checking for does ,you never know what you are going to see ,I said it earlier ,you dont hunt just to take a monster ,it is time alone in a tree and seeing everything that goes on in the great outdoors that god created! Being there in there living room watching what takes place is awsome .

My biggest concern with the cameras is whether they spook the deer or not, especially when you put them at your feeders? We now use the infrared flash cameras, but i think the red flash still spooks the smart ones, less than the white flash, but i still think it spooks them? Wish they made a green flash. I know they have no flash camera out now, but thery are a lot of dough. About the big ones coming to the bait, they will in their bachelor groups during the summer when there's little pressure & to search for does during the rut, but they simply don't eat much during the rut, that and the pressure can spook them away from it. Though, during the winter when the ruts waning, it gets real cold and there's little food left in the woods, the big mature bucks certainly will come to it and feed, they need to fatten up after losing so much weight. Add snow cover, and you can bank on it!

I have been looking at 'no flash / infrared' cameras for a while now.

Three points:
1. The cost.
2. Theft - even on private land.
3. See points 1 & 2

I'de love to know what's going on out there. My buddy has one and has good pix of squirrels, turkey and deer.

I believe the flash scares them...Ive been using the infrared ones and seems that the deer still keep comin back...I have 100s of pics of this 8 pointer who was coming to this stand 5-6 times a day....76

Using a camera is extending your hunting season. It allows you to hunt at night. It's just as exciting to me to catch a picture of a nice buck as it is to shoot one.

One of the best inventions brought into the hunting industry. Allows you to find what bucks are cruzing the area and you don't have to sit their and load the area up with scent. But trust me from experience its hard to get deer on the cam when they don't have specific trails when the deer just roam. Its like trapping. Out of all the woods and the endless area that animal could go he's got to step on that one little 2-3 inch pan to set the trap off. Trail cams the deer could be wandering the woods all around your stand but they have to walk right infront of it for it to go off. But they help a lot. I like to target a specific buck and they help me tremendously in doing so.
