Just thinking. The PGC is having a hard time with $ lately. They even started offering a 2nd spring gobbler tag. Our turkey population can make it with that considering the shear size of it. Why not maybe have a raffle for a second buck tag. Say offer 100 tags available. You know the revenue that could produce. Even go as far and say that most of the state could handle that. Then offer it in special regs areas that could. Say 100 bounus tags for WMU 5C, 5D, and 2B. These area of Pa have a major over population of deer. Even IF all 100 buck tags were used it really wouldn't hurt our population. And all the people that would apply for them $$$$$. Just an idea.

the only problem that i could think of with that is that it would just create more comotion and hunting pressure in the woods. oh, and it may not hurt the population that year but over the years i could see it being effected. it would bring in alot of money though:D i dont know, just another thing to spend your money on and get your hopes up for.

Nah see heres the thing like I said it would be a low ball about (I pulled 100 tags outta the air) If you do that either by county or by WMU. WMU 5C is quiet big too. Trust me putting a dent in the population here in Bucks would be very difficult to do since their is so much private land here that is un hunted. Just out of curiousity what do you mean by more comotion in the woods? White-tails are very tough creatures. Everybody thought 2 years ago that the deer population in SW Pa was going to be in bad shape because of the EHD outbreak. Not the case. Compounding hunting season the deer population rose right back up to their sustainable numbers.

the f ing pgc is ruining or has ruined up state pa now thier working on sepa by sponsoring sharpshooters, depredation tags and red tags , how can you expect me to by a licesnse and doe tag when all they do is push sharpshooters or properties that need managemaent,,, instead make that illlegal and tell then to hire archers or let archers hunt... pennypack park ne philadelphia has sharpshooters, not allowed to discharge a gun in phily, but you can bowhunt. there are plenty of people who live in philly and bowhunt open it to them and save tax money, also let those that pay the pgc salaries through license sales hunt...... THE PGC NEEDS TO STOP DOUBLE DIPPING, ITS RIDICULOUS:thdown::thdown::thdown::thdown::thdown:

The PGC has never sponsored sharpshooters. Certain parks, boroughs, townships, etc have. Culling a deer heard isn't just as easy to say ok well lets just let bowhunters in and it'll work out. They're are MANY legal issues involved. Thats why many of these private parties go to a fully insured, professional, licensed, deer culling groups. Many of th properties need a lot of management here in SE Pa. Unfortunitly their is a lot of private property that hunters can't get to and in many case this is where a lot of the deer are. The RED tag program is issued to farmers and people who own a lot of acrage. For managing habitat for deer, however, the agency has direct control of only five percent of the Commonwealth's land area - state game lands. The rest of Pa is either parks or private. Reg tags are only issued in accordance to the amount of farmed land. The number of these "subpermits" available to the landowner is generally one for every five acres of land under cultivation. Not enough to decimate a heard, but enough to control the amount of damage to a farmers crop. Not to mention if a farmer goes into a red tag program he has to make his farm open to public hunting. You STILL MUST get permission to be on his land. The farmer is the one whom has the tags after the PGC gives them to him. You can go on the PGC website and find out where the closest red tag farm is to you. Their is a organization called Eccologix. Look them up. They put bowhunters in the area's you are mentioning in hopes of controling the deer heard in urban areas. All the land is private they just get the permission for you.
On another note the PGC is a non-profit organization. Even before the PGC can change a season, change a bag limit, do what ever it must be passed through the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee of Pennsylvania. They are the deciding factor in whatever the PGC does.

In Pa unless you found some deer that haven't been pressured at all they are spooked after the 3-4 hour of opening day. I was out this morning checking my traps and still saw three doe while crunching through all the ice. Doe season is still in here (just cause it is special regs).

No I am not. I know that all their bowhunters are put through their own course. Just to make sure they are great shots. Yes, they have done some great things for several townships and local hunters.
