Anyone going out for Late Flintlock in PA? If so where abouts, generally. I have off from the 26th - 30th. Plan to be out every day if possible. I wish it would snow down in Montogomery CO and lay for a few days. It makes hunting Evansburg State park easier, as I am sure it does anywhere. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up.

I'll be out and about when I can. Depending on work schedule, maybe I'll make a trip down to Evansburg and hunt with you.

The Ridge,
Thanks for the offer but my time off comes at the beginning of the Flintlock season. I will be hunting Evansburg Friday morning and Saturday morning as it stands, then going up to father in law's cabin near Whitehaven on the following Monday & Tuesday.
Ihunt49,
Let me know if you can make it out the day after Christmas morning. I will see if I can get out for a few hours in the morning on Saturday as well. If we are lucky we will have some snow.

I'm in! Unfortunately I've still got all my tags. Will be hunting Friday around Nockamixon with two buddies. Monday will be in Schuykill with my pops, who also has all his tags. I'm a Monday hunter unless we get some snow somewhere, then I'll put some vacation time to good use.

I was out for two days up near White Haven for Flintlock. Lots of deer running around on Monday the 29th. Four of us had shots and all missed. Deer where all moving very quickly through the woods. Lots of lead in trees now up there. 2nd day the 30th had heavy winds and the deer where not moving. Tried to push them with a couple guys standing but we couldn't find them. Still had a great couple of day. We had a couple of no shots due to no powder in the pan/frizzen, one point blank. I heard him curse from across the field. They will not live it down any time soon. :D

Reel Quick,
Try the State Game lands near Lehigh Gorge State Park. They are SGL's 40, 141 & 149. You could also hunt Hickory Run as well. Good luck

I have been hunting with the same TC renegade since 1981. Shot many doe and a few nice bucks. The trick Our group learned is that is you purge the flashhole with small pick and use only fill the pan 1/3 to 1/2 . You need the flash to ignite the powder quickly. Also change your pan powder about every 30 minutes when hunting with snow or rain. Even when dry, we usually change it every hour. I had a few mishaps with the gun not going off, but they were the first years of learning. Now I get a quick burn and fire every time. Try it!
