since no rats at the last ponds i moved on down the road.
i talked to the farmer, he didn't see any since the low water in the summer. so i hit the next private water body down the road. found some fresh sign.
here's a few phone pics.

active trail. our coni's have to be covert with water. so the best legal set on this trail is a snare.

high hopes for tomorrow.
i'll post catches if there are any.

just one today.
most sets were plugged with leaves and grass from the rising water level.
one snare was pushed up and out of the way. just missed him.

Nice! None of my set where ever check out yet (can tell cause snow on ground) We'll see what happens. Only thing I can think of was that they are here just not always coming through the same area all the time. Much like what I figured in SW Pa. The SW Pa yotes came by strong every 2-3 days. I wonder what it is going to be like with these suburban yotes.

this one was a kit.
it came out 5 1/2" shorter then the last rat that was on this board. old tack marks are the black line.
so here's a nice $1 rat. :D

i make all my own snares.
your doing great on coon. we seemed to lost our numbers. we are getting them but the numbers are off. guess distemper in september did them in. they were all over the roads then.
you meadows hold good rat numbers. it's just too far for me to check sets. i have a few farms with ponds on them. a few rats around but not meadow numbers. just killing time till i can run a full line after deer season. i'm pulling monday and getting back into the deer with the smokepole.
i got the beaver and otter permits last year. the first year i didn't catch a otter. the beaver i didn't want to bother with. i have them all around me, had one cutting saplings in my back yard. you know, some animals just don't do it for me. beaver and grinners, the same to me.
unless they flood out my swamp. then it's war, permit of not. it's a property damaging trespasser then.:D
