Special Sea Duck Area:
Defined as any waters of the Atlantic Ocean and in addition
any tidal waters of any bay which are separated by at least 1 mile of open water from
any shore, island or emergent vegetation. In this area, hunters must limit their hunting
to open water areas at least one mile from any land or emergent vegetation in any
direction.

I dont completely understand this... does this mean hunting the shoreline is OK? or do you have to be in open water at least one mile from land?

one mile out to have them in sea duck limits.
if you take them within 1 mile of land they were counted in the normal limits.
i don't follow it much anymore but they did that for the incidental birds shot from land.

i did some seas duckin' from my boat in the delware bay before. it's good fun.

i have a 21' maritime skiff, with a 7' high center console.
we set a anchor first, then put a float on the end.
then set out strings of decoys out, black ducks and 2 litter soda bottles.
then tie up to the anchor.
those birds will come right in. we wave small black flags to get their attention.
it's funny, you are all camoed up and tend to hunker down like your hiding. but your in a big white boat.
they hit the water and you have to keep shooting, untie and chase them down.
it's very hard to hit a bird in a 3' swell.

they have duck/striper trips on the chesse all the time i learned about it at the tuckerton show last year theres a special boat for them i can remember the name of the but they are 21-24ft long or so. and are all camo and have high sides but are shaped differently and dont have a very big profile. on the water. but they are sturdy boats and wouldnt be scared going off a mile in them. a neat thing to go do some day (a duck/striper trip).p.s the boats kind of look like something the army would use.

ive often thought about this, chunking for stripers and blasting away at some ducks. last fall had tons of ducks flying past the boat. is this legal and what about other boats that are in the vicinity?
