My dad has an 10 gage and it will mot throw buck shot for S###. You can only get 00buck and number#4 buck for the gun. What sould we do besides trade it in.

What choke do you use?

Does it have removable choke tubes? Try a different brand of buckshot. Tighter chokes don't always equate to tighter patterns with buckshot. They make buckshot in small batches of 10 ga. Not much demand for it. Look around and see what you can find. I had 000, 00, 2 and 4. Not much left and I havent looked for it lately.

If you are going to get rid of the gun. Drop me a line. I love 10 ga guns.

What type of gun is it? They used to make a poly choke for 10 gauge shotguns . but they would not fit heavy barrels.

My uncle has a super black eagle. Uses a pattern master. Consistantly puts 9 pellets into a pie plate at 75yrds. Uses buffered copper 00 from federal. Pricey, ($11.00 a box) but worth it.

these days your only going to find 00 + 4s made by either federal or winchester + not that much of them. I have a 10 ga over + under made by armsport, + sp -10 auto made by remington, they both shoot buckshot fine but seem to shoot winchester better

Check around for some hand loads. We got some at Harry's a few years back. It was supposed to be the last year they were offering them, we bought a bunch. The handloads patterned much better than the factory loads.

i have the Remington Sp10 and had the same issue. If your gun has screw in choke capabilities then by all means check out choke tubes. I use Kick's industries buckshot tube in the .700 for my 00 buckshot. But I have also had some gunsmithing done. Sportsman center in Bordentown back-bored the gun for me and everything I shoot from this gun throws a nice tight pattern. steel-shot/turkey loads/buckshot. I also have different chokes for each so i wasn't concerned with the cost of everything BUT that was before kids, braces, bikes, i-pods, clothes ETC ETC a Wife.
