well i finally got him this buck he gave me 3 close encounters including bedding down with a doe at 31yds cover was to thick to get a ethical shot. today i found a hot scrape on the complete opposite side of where i have been seing him. so i set up in a blowdown i made into a ground blind earlier in the season. at last light i heard a twig snap and i turn and at 5yds there he is luckily my gun was set up in perfect position all i had to do was cock the hammer, aim and squeeze still was hard to pull off with that buck that close but i got it done the shot hit him square in the front shoulder he ran 50yds into the cornfield and piled up. my best buck so far. what a day i also almost got sprayed by a skunk who thought the blowdown was his

i shot him yesterday i got in the woods late because i was hunting midday in salem county i didnt get to the ground blind until 4 and he walked by at 5pm. i was using my tc omega 50cal with 250gr although he was so close i probably could have used a sling shot. the postrut is going pretty good i have seen lots of new scrapes

I saw a few new scrapes, but I haven't seen them chasing yet. Were his glands kicking? Just trying to get a good idea how active the post rut activity is in the area.

Nice buck, congrats. He looks like a young one yet too, maybe only 2.5. Great genes in your area, if bucks were to get old enough, you could have some monsters.
