Question: WMA's do not release one week in Dec?

Is that to allow the deer hunters free reign? Can you still hunt for upland birds during that week?

I believe you can't hunt birds that week at all, actually small game all together is closed that week. Better check the NJ F & W website or digest to be exact.... But I'm sure thats how it stands...

Dec. 6th is the last day this week to hunt. Then there are closures on and off in December. I believe that bird stocking ends on 12/26. Check the DEP webiste to be sure.

It looks like it's Nov 8 to Dec 6 then again on the 15th & 16th, 18th-31st. 2009 is Jan 1st-Feb 16th according to the State website.

Small game gets closed down for Shotgun Deer season and then again on one day the next week 12/17 for permit shotgun deer. Otherwise you can hunt 12/15 & 16 and from 12/18/08 - 2/16/09

They stock a little lighter than normal this week because of it also. After this Saturday there are only 2 more stocking days left for the season Sat. 12/20 & Sat 12/27.
