I shot my first banded bird this morning, but what made it even more specical was the size of the goose .One of the other guys with me called it a Giant Canadian. It has a wing span of 58 inches .I have only been goose hunting for just a few years and have never seen one this big.Is there a species called Giant Canadian's?

There is a variety referred to as Giants but what you probably shot was alarge local bird. You'll know when you get the band data back. We shot two last week that were obviously older resident birds. One was the size you're talking about. They had fat coating their breast meat and everything else. You could tell they hadn't flown from Canada LOL...

Congrats on the band, cool, ain't it?

I thought it would take a few months ,but I recieved a certificate back already .The goose was two years old and was banded in a little town called Ft Albany close to the Hudson Bay.Being just two years old and to get that big I'm thinking it would have to be a Gaint Canadian .I'm I wrong?

Hudson Bay Canada? that would have to be a Giant because it's obviously not a resident bird.
