Whats everyone's opinion on the low recoil ammo? Does it make it any less effective. I wanted the regulars but Cabelas is in backorder for the Hastings slugs. L.R. is all they have avail.

I seem to be in the minority with a lot of the guys that I talk with about this, but I think you should find whatever shoots best in your shotgun and go with accuracy over velocity. For me, the 2¾ slugs always shot better, and they all go in one side and out the other, so the velocity is kind of a moot point unless you're trying to stretch your range (which isn't a good idea IMHO).
I'd say that if they shoot good for you then go with them.

Step down to a 20 guage , less recoil & flatter shooting .
use 2 3/4 and a good recoil pad. then practice with a firm grip and follow through the whole shot. and you'll "overcome" the perceived problem.

You can buy a pound of Mercury and put it in your butt stock , it'll reduce the recoil 40 % What kind of gun is it ?

ive actually seen these "recoil reducers". that are like tubes with mercury in them. apparantly bore a hole in the stock, slide this mercury filled tube up in there, then replace the recoil pad. dont know how or if they work. but maybe do a little research on your own, or talk to a gunsmith about it

Sims Vibration makes nice recoil pads. If you contact them direct, they w e-mail you footprints of all pads they make. (they make alot more then whats listed in most catalogs). When you print them out, they are actual size. Then you pick the one that fits your stock. You can purchase it directly from them. I have 2. Very nice.
