Look what I found in my bait pile!!!

Found this busted antler in my bait pile. It was still wet with blood and had a nice piece of skull attched to it. I wonder what did this to him??? Will he live?? Here is a pic of him before he got mugged..

Thats strange...I have found freshly shed atlers and there is usualy some blood on the bottom of the pedicile but its smooth and not jagged like that.

Barrell, thats not a shed. It was ripped out of the deers head by another buck.

I would say he had a fight with another buck since it was dropped at your bait pile. Bucks that have been shot poorly have shed there antlers early but I don't think any skull would be attached. He could have hit it on a tree or something when running from something in an emergency and didn't drop it until over your bait pile. Hopefully he is ok and you'll get a chance at him this or next season. Whitetail deer are some of the toughest animals in the woods so I think he'll be ok and good luck hunting him in the future.

He will live but may have an interesting rack next year if he lives. Maybe double rack. tell your hunting neighbors to pass on the little one horn spike. Keep bait'n
