Some guys leased land next to my neighbor. They used a GPS to cut a line to a back corner. The line starts off two feet in error as the monument they used is not located properly because it is off by two feet. I know this because I had our property resurveyed and gained two feet up front and fifty feet in back off our neighbor, which effectively pushed his whole 60 acres over that much. My survey is accurate that the surveyor measured from a G.S. benchmark whereas most of the properties here used existing monuments. Should be interesting when he files charges for stealing his property. The last club that messed with him paid $25 per sign for fifty signs plus $1000 for littering. They say it is legal, I say only a line by a licensed surveyor is legal. Neighbor is away right now so we will let them keep hanging themselves.

Try going to a township building. They should have the percise measuements of the property. Also if that guy did the survey by GPS a lot of times any unit (unless it is a military one) aren't super accurate. It will get you close, but not dead on 100% correct. Try finding someone with GIS. That will be the most accurate you can get. Your surveyers should be framilair with it. We use a lot of GPS and GIS in my field. We have to know how to get to a certin spot in the woods without ever being there or even know what might be infront of us or around and if it might impact the study.

i guess you didnt like the guys enough to warn them .i wouldnt want to have that happen to me ,you should say something unless you dont like:) anyway a gps is not accurate anyway they are off varying 12 to 30+ feet.and they dont start navigating untill after you start moving for a bit which is why you still need a compass . i guess maybe they should know before hand huh.:(

I had forgotten the two foot error in the heat of the disagreement. My gps would only come to 19 feet accuracy when I positioned it over the monument because of the trees. Also the guy with the attitude did not hear what I wanted to tell him because he knew he was in the wrong. So now it is time to make him and his buddies pay. The bad thing is, the fines go to the state, not the person who was wronged. After our last incident with a well known deer club near Ft Dix, he may want to go to civil court and maybe get enough to put in another bog.
